How to Care for Pothos Plants

Let’s explore easy and essential steps in taking care of Pothos plants, ensuring their health, vitality, and beauty in your indoor space.

Place them in bright, indirect light

Position in well-lit spaces away from direct sunlight to avoid leaf scorching and encourage healthy, vibrant growth. Ideal for rooms with filtered natural light.

Maintain evenly moist soil

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, allowing excess water to drain.

Use a well-draining, high-quality potting mix

Opt for a well-draining mix to prevent root rot. A mixture of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark provides the necessary aeration for healthy root growth.

Put them in a room with a temperature from 18°C to 29°C

Maintain a room temperature between 18°C to 29°C (65°F to 85°F). Avoid sudden temperature drops and drafts, which can stress the plant.

Provide them with occasional fertilization during their growing season

During the growing season (spring and summer), feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks to promote foliage growth. Dilute as directed.

Maintain regular pruning

Trim back leggy growth and yellowing leaves to encourage bushy and attractive foliage. Pruning also prevents overcrowding and promotes air circulation.

Make sure to propagate them through stem cutting

Expand your Pothos collection by propagating through stem cuttings. Snip a healthy stem below a node, place it in water or soil, and watch new roots develop.
