Description

Peperomia Watermelon from its name literally mimics how the outside of the watermelon looks like. this has a fan like foliage but with a sharper edge as compared to other peperomias. Its stems are reddish brown in color and they are upright. It also has a good color contrast of green and white streaks which makes it look like a dwarf watermelon.

History

Pepperomia Watermelon is sometimes referred as Watermelon Begonia or Peperomia argyreia. This plant belongs in the genera of Piperaceae which was a native of South America and Brazil. Though its name has a watermelon this is not in any way related to the fruit. The name was just coined based on the appearance of the plant

Care guide

This plant is everyone’s favorite because even if you are a newbie in planting, this does not require that much attention and needs like other high maintenance plants. This wouldn’t consume a lot of time from your schedule. Just place it on a warm and partial shade area in your house and this plant baby will thrive! Watering is not an issue, a peperomia only needs watering once every 7 to 10 days. Easy right?

Propagate

It is very to propagate a peperomia, just like a vining plant all you have to do is to cut a stalk or a node from the mother plant and place it directly into the water. In 5 to 6 weeks you will notice that thin roots will start to grow and after 2 more weeks you can now plant it on the soil. Make sure to give just the right amount of moisture on the soil to keep the plant well fed as it adjusts to its new environment.
